Song Village

Westhaven Center for the Arts
501 S. Westhaven Drive, Trinidad
—Sunday, July 23, 1:00–3:00 p.m.—
Free Admission

People who love to sing are invited to "Song Village", a singing gathering hosted by Seabury Gould. This monthly informal gathering is similar to the "Song Circle" which Seabury hosted for many years in Arcata.

Singers are encouraged to bring the songbook "Rise Up Singing" and copies of songs they would like to share.

In Song Village we sing folk songs & other songs conducive to group singing in a friendly & fun setting. We gather to form a “vocal community.” All ages are welcome. There is an awesome power in the human voice. It is wonderful to feel a connection with a group of fellow singers! It takes a Village.

2nd Sunday of the Month, usually
—3:00–6:00 pm—
Free Admission

Hosted by Seabury (or Sam McNeill). This is an informal session where songs and tunes are equally welcome. While this is a “mostly Irish music” session, other Celtic music is enthusiastically welcomed, such as Scottish tunes & songs, music from Wales, Brittany and Galicia, etc.

This is an open session, so feel free to let other musicians (with acoustic instruments) know who you think would be appropriate. We start with “Slow play” at 3 pm, playing tunes that are inherently slow. The tempo picks up at 4 pm.

Younger players are enthusiastically welcome to attend!

For info call 845-8167 or have a look on Facebook.

The duo Crested Hens are Seabury Gould on guitar, bouzouki, flute and vocals, and Liz Thompson on cello.

Eclectic musician Seabury Gould is a multi-instrumentalist, recording artist and music teacher who has been a significant presence in the local Irish/Folk music scene since 2003. Liz Thompson is known for her expressive and exhilarating Celtic cello playing, influenced by the dazzling cello playing of Natalie Haas.
